This online resource is sponsored by the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) Center for Writing and Scholarship. The site provides tips and guidance on a range of topics for those new to academic writing or for those who want to advance their skills. Our goal is to furnish visitors with a variety of content to meet them where they are in the academic writing process.

This site is open to the public, though some of the workshops and courses are offered only to CIIS students and faculty.

Here is what you will find on this site:

  • Access to a range of resources including links to writing workshops, handouts, and article posts. We encourage comments and questions.
  • Examples to better understand citation, references and other formatting, paper structure, literature reviews, dissertation proposals, and more. The goal is to get the creative juices flowing by offering information for different stages of the writing process.
  • Access to Center for Writing and Scholarship Fellows, each with a different strength and perspective, who will answer your questions about academic writing.
  • Software and apps to get and stay organized.
